We are excited to share one of our newest wooden puzzles - Asticou Azalea Garden, originally a painting by Hal Ford, a 500pc wooden puzzle manufactured by Wentworth puzzles especially for Swallowfield. Puzzle is 14x20”. This painting was licensed for a puzzle with permission from Hal’s family.
About the artist: Harold “Hal” Francis Ford died at age 85 in 2020. He was a graduate of Yale University School of Art. He studied graphic design at Paier College of Art and worked in that field before turning to his real love, painting, full time. After Hal and his wife, Lise, relocated to Bar Harbor in the early 1990s, Hal was able to focus more fully on his art. His paintings were on display in various Northeast Harbor galleries, and he had an enthusiastic and loyal following. Hal’s other interests included hiking and sailing. He was a dedicated member of the MDI Community Sailing Center in Southwest Harbor, where he taught sailing for a number of years. He is survived by his wife, Lise, his stepchildren Michael Roche and Patricia Varga, his children John Ford and Sheryl Ford and six grandchildren.
